Frontier Donates High-Speed Fiber Internet to Support Youth Mentorship in Rochester, New York

What’s the donation: Frontier is donating high-speed fiber internet to Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of Greater Rochester through our Broadband for Good program. Our donation will provide the nonprofit with fast, reliable connectivity to power its youth mentoring programs, helping bridge the achievement and opportunity gaps faced by underserved youth.

What’s Broadband for Good: Broadband for Good is our commitment to advancing digital inclusion and strengthening the communities we serve. This program supports our purpose of Building Gigabit America by using our fiber technology and resources to connect more people to the digital society.

Why we chose BBBS of Greater Rochester: BBBS of Greater Rochester serves over 300 youth from diverse backgrounds, often from low-income households, through one-to-one and professionally-led mentoring programs that build educational and life skills. Our donation will ensure that Bigs and Littles have fast, reliable connectivity for learning and training at the organization.

And there’s more: Frontier is teaming up with Shift2, a Rochester-based nonprofit that recycles and repurposes technology, to provide BBBS with laptops, tablets and chargers to pair with their fiber internet.

Hear from Frontier: “We are a company that believes in the power of technology to create a better future, and that’s why we are excited to donate our high-speed fiber technology to Big Brother Big Sisters of Great Rochester, which helps underserved youth reach their greatest potential,” said Erin Kurtz, Frontier’s Chief Communications Officer.

Hear from BBBS of Greater Rochester: “Frontier’s donation of fiber internet will allow us to strengthen our mission by providing youth with the fast, reliable internet they need to dream big and succeed in the digital world” said Vanity Fagan, Office Manager at BBBS of Greater Rochester.
