Frontier Receives Grant Funding to Expand Access to High-Speed Fiber Internet in West Virginia

Company will bring fast, reliable connectivity to unserved and underserved homes and businesses in rural Monongalia County

What happened? Frontier has been awarded grant funding by the Monongalia County Commission to expand access to high-speed fiber broadband in Monongalia County, West Virginia. The America Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding will enable us to advance our fiber build and reach additional locations in the rural county.

Why it matters: With this funding, we will bring fast, reliable connectivity to more homes and businesses in Monongalia County, boosting economic and educational opportunities for the county. This work strengthens our commitment to providing unserved and underserved communities with access to our high-speed fiber internet.

Handy quote: “The ARPA funding from Monongalia County will allow us to accelerate our fiber expansion in the area,” said Veronica Bloodworth, Chief Network Officer. “We are proud to provide even more county residents and businesses with access to the high-speed connectivity they need to thrive in the digital economy. That’s what Frontier’s purpose, Building Gigabit America, is all about.”

Why is this important for Monongalia County?

“We are pleased to have selected Frontier’s fiber expansion project for funding.  Hearing from local residents about their positive experience with Frontier’s fiber internet gave the selection committee confidence that Frontier has the expertise to deliver premium service,” said Monongalia County Commissioner Sean Sikora. “We look forward to working in partnership to bring much needed fiber connectivity to more people in our community.”

“I live in an area that had been a dead spot for connectivity for a while, and having Frontier’s fiber internet has livened it up. I have Frontier for my business and my house, and I’m happy to say it’s been reliable—I look forward to more people in the community enjoying the same experience,” said Gilberta Dalton, resident of Monongalia County.

The broader context: With this $800K in ARPA funding from Monongalia County, we’ve secured over $22M in grant funding in West Virginia. Our partnerships with local communities contribute to the success of these projects.
