Frontier Donates High-Speed Fiber Internet to Support Educational Programs at Food Pantry Serving Thousands of People in North Texas

What’s the donation: Frontier donated high-speed fiber internet to Minnie’s Food Pantry in Plano, Texas through our Broadband for Good program. Minnie’s Food Pantry provides healthy meals and educational resources to thousands of people who are experiencing hunger in North Texas. Our donation of fast, reliable connectivity supports online learning at the organization’s Empowerment Center.

What’s Broadband for Good: Broadband for Good is our commitment to advancing digital inclusion and strengthening the communities we serve. The program supports our purpose of Building Gigabit America by using our fiber technology and resources to connect more people to the digital society.

Why we chose Minnie’s Food Pantry: Minnie’s Food Pantry is one of the largest food pantries in North Texas. Last year, Minnie’s Food Pantry distributed over 3 million meals to more than 140,000 community members in need, including senior citizens, veterans and children. The organization also offers programs to help people gain long-term food security and combat the issue of generational hunger in low-income areas. At the organization’s Empowerment Center, people can participate in classes and workshops, ranging from financial literacy and job skills to health and wellness.

Hear from Frontier: “As a Dallas-based company, we are always looking for opportunities to give back in North Texas. Our employees have previously volunteered to serve meals at Minnie’s Food Pantry, and now, we are proud to donate our high-speed fiber internet to this community-loved organization,” said Erin Kurtz, Frontier’s Chief Communications Officer.

Hear from Minnie’s Food Pantry: “At Minnie’s Food Pantry, we believe that overall wellness begins with healthy food and financial education. Frontier’s donation of fiber internet allows us to have fast, reliable connectivity for our education programs,” said Zoya Jackson, Chief Operating Officer for Minnie’s Food Pantry. “We are grateful to Frontier for helping to strengthen our mission of addressing the issue of hunger in our community.”

About Minnie’s Food Pantry

Minnie’s Food Pantry (MFP) is a Plano, Texas based nonprofit organization that aims to transform lives by providing healthy meals, educational resources and basic life necessities by way of red carpet treatment to children and families in need. Founded on April 1, 2008, by Dr. Cheryl “Action” Jackson, in honor of her mother, Pastor Minnie Hawthorne-Ewing, Minnie’s Food Pantry has since provided over 28 million meals to families living in low income, food insecure households. Through supplemental food assistance, educational resources and support from the community, Minnie’s Food Pantry has changed the stigma associated with “hunger”, providing a red carpet experience to every individual we serve.
